Occupational therapist
Heidi Danielle Gevers is a recently qualified Occupational Therapist from the University of the Free State.
Heidi did her Community Service in 2015 at Bethesda Hospital. This was also where she did her 4th year elective during her studies. She heard about Bethesda from a friend of a friend when she was looking for an exciting place to work for 2 weeks. She describes Bethesda as “far out on top of a mountain, rustic, rural and real. Heidi enjoyed her community service year so much that she feels she has been converted to rural living and working for life!
However life often takes unexpected bends and her most recent one has brought her to Johannesburg to work and live. She is currently working at a private psychiatric clinic called Akeso and is really enjoying it so far. She explains how she is “learning so much and I am grateful for this time but I do long for rural each and every day.” She still feels passionate about being a part of RuReSA so that she can stay involved in speaking up for rural and supporting it.
